Sparring with the Satyagraha and Gandhian idealists

Below are 2 links to my serial comments on the weaknesses of Gandhian values and warts of the MK Gandhi persona

My initial comment that started off these torrents of sparring was this:

"Both Anna H and MKG are/were deluded and misguided messiahs. If you think AH has no idea or theory of a state or nation, even MKG did not really have any. His vision of a Sevagram economy and society  if implemented would have landed India in a greater disaster than Nehruvian socialism.
Gandhi's charisma, popularity and the spirit of the times in which he reached his peak provided the intellectual justification and rationalization for his mediaval and outmoded ideas and methods. While it is a hypothetical argument now, Gandhi with his idealistic theories and satyagraha antics delayed our 'freedom' from colonial rule by at least 50 years, by crowding other effective agitational methods."

This part of the comment (which was meant to be rhetorical more than factual)  was latched onto by many Gandhi admirers to be used as a stick to beat and wear down the few voices of Gandhian criticism.

I will excerpt some passages from my serial comments in my future posts to distill the essence of the critique of Gandhian legacy

  1. Oh really? That's interesting, because I'm quite sure India only got independence because Britain started to slowly release its colonies after WWII anyway-- not because of Gandhi.

Pray tell me who this savior was that would have gotten India freedom in 1900, only 40 years after 1857 and before WWI, when European countries were scrambling for colonies without a thought of freeing them!

    U ain't too bright brotha.

  2. ALSO, Gandhi didn't come to India until 1915 to start his agitations. So if Gandhi REALLY delayed independence by 50 years, he would've had to do something to prevent it in 1900 or earlier. But he wasn't there! So what the fuck? Your "hypothesis" makes absolutely no sense. Ergo, you are wrong my friend.

    MYTH BUSTED :D
