Why and the topics for analytical writing

My intention here is to attempt to form views and opinions about subjects as varied as literature, philosophy, politics and economics. The objective being that of critically analyzing people, thoughts, events and the inter-connections among them. The literary shape that I endeavor to provide to these various musings is that of an essay or dissertation. As it is wont of a critic to show skeptical tendencies which may even extend to one's own effort, I have sought to title these disquisitions as they would hopefully unravel over time as assays or attempts rather than proclaiming the stern tenor and authority of an essay.

Since this project is exhorted by the passion for arts that bear varying degrees of affinity to literature and philosophy, there is a reference made to sagacity in the blog title. The journey through the devices of critical appreciation or rather apprehension will attempt to explore wisdom or the lack of it in the men, matters and events of the big, wide world.

The other aim that this blog hopes to remain true to is to bring to the fore and embellish the immortal beauty and grandeur of  English language. This office is a very arduous one, if one were to realize how the rapacious march of modernity and the progressive indifference to intellectual speculation has been drawing the curtain of decadence on this mighty language.

Preoccupation with worldly cares and infirmities of mind of which lassitude is not the least powerful of deterrence's that may from time to time waylay even the best intentions for erudition and literary inquiry

I will pause this beginning with a hope for granting me fortitude to repulse the ravages of empirical preoccupation and the vigor of fervency to pursue this labor of love

    1. I am trying to read up on some critiques of Islam and its scriptures (Qoran and its Hadiths). I can point to some sources of reasoned critical scrutiny of Islam and its obscurantist tendencies if you are really keen on this.

As expected it is Western skeptical circles that are leading this rationalist and critical broadside against Islam. There is lot of content about this on SKEPTIC and FREE INQUIRY.

Hopefully I will attempt something on these lines in the months to come.

  2. Ranganath, you're unable to reply to my comments because you're out of your depth and you know it. And you're writing me off as a troll to save face. But about how little you know, you're beginning to get the idea. You're a joke. I want you to remember, Ranganath, in all the years to come,in your most private moments. I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you."

    1. Hahaha, Dark Knight Returns reference? Good to know there's a fellow Batman fan in the freethought community.

      Best,

    3. Sachin, if the two of us tag-team, we won't let Ranganath get away with any falsehood or poor use of reason. He won't respond anyway, but at least people won't be fooled when reading his posts. You in?

    4. Anonymous,

You're lucky I came back here. No thanks... the more attention he gets, the more he'll feel like a martyr. Best to cut off the oxygen that feeds the fire to whatever delusions he has about being a freethinker.
